The second Summer Music Camp in Kusuntu

Dates: July 13th – 26th, 2026.
Following the success of our music camp in July 2025, we are excited to announce our next major Summer Academy for 2026. Once again, we cordially invite all music enthusiasts from Germany and across Europe to support the project through donations or new ideas.
Preparations are already in full swing: The current preliminary participant list includes 40 children from Kusuntu, as well as 20 additional children and teenagers from the "Foundation Rishfuente Music School" in Lomé.
A special focus this year is once again on the empowerment of girls. Akosiwa e.V. is providing financial support, and the camp is being organized by the "Youth Harmony Music School" and our local partner association, "Ambition Jeunesse".
New to the program: For the first time, we are offering the opportunity to learn the recorder during the camp. This program is primarily aimed at our youngest participants, paving their way from early musical education to wind band music.

Pedagogical Concept (Summary):
A two-week camp for young musicians, offering a playful mix of ensemble work, technical training, and creative projects.
Teachers: From the music schools "Youth Harmony School" & "Foundation Rishfuente," with additional online support from conductors and music teachers from Germany.
Target Group & Levels:
Participants are divided into performance groups based on age and experience:
Group 1 – Junior (Beginner):
Focus on basics such as posture, breathing, and simple rhythms. Primary entry-level instruments: Recorder and flute.
Group 2 – Bronze (Elementary):
For participants with approx. 1–2 years of experience. Focus on advanced technique, multi-part pieces, and initial solos.
Instruments:
Includes a wide range: recorder, flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, horn, cornet, tuba, baritone, keyboard, and percussion (drums & bells).
Daily Schedule:
Morning: Technique, scales, and ensemble rehearsals.
Afternoon: Ear training, theory, creative workshops, and group singing & playing sessions.
Highlights:
An excursion to the instrument workshop in Agomé Yoh, located just 3 km from Kusuntu.
The camp concludes with a grand final concert where all groups present the pieces they have worked on—from simple canons by the juniors to more complex works by the bronze group.
