87 beaming faces

Agome Kusuntu, April 24, 2026
A decisive milestone for our musical vision has been reached. This past Friday, we held our first in-person meeting with the principal, students, and teachers of the local primary school, as well as Togbui, the board member of Ambition Jeunesse, to officially present the planned project for early musical education.
The response was overwhelming: A total of 87 children aged between 7 and 13 have already expressed their strong interest in becoming part of the new music group. In Togo, primary school education lasts six years, and we are looking forward to accompanying these children on their journey from learning the recorder to playing wind band music.

Project Planning Key Points:
The official project start is currently still pending, as it depends significantly on securing financial support as well as the final assembly of the musical teaching staff. Our goal is to begin the official music club on October 1, 2026, to consolidate the pedagogical successes in the long term. A corresponding pilot project has already been successfully underway since May 14: Kossi Yatso ATUTONU has been teaching music theory every Thursday at the local primary school since then.
Local Enthusiasm:
The school principal, Madame AGBEKO Adzokuma, and the entire teaching staff are fully committed to the project and are actively supporting its implementation.
State Integration:
To ensure the project is anchored sustainably, the plan is to officially integrate the music program into the framework of state special projects for cultural education (Socio-éducatif).
Fixed Lesson Times:
In the future, music lessons are scheduled to take place every Wednesday afternoon to provide a rhythmic complement to the daily school routine.
Quality Through Preparation:
To ensure continuous and high-quality training, accompanying training sessions for the team will be held every Friday from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

We at Akosiwa e.V. appreciate your donations of recorders as well as financial contributions. Thank you!
